Newsletter April 2023

The Lighthouse

There was a magic moment for Jeffrey Alan Love recently when he was asked to illustrate the DVD cover of his favourite film of all time. Arrow Films are releasing Robert Eggers' film, The Lighthouse, with an illustrated booklet, and we've put Jeff's work for it on the website.

Simon Bartram portraits

Simon has recently finished a portrait of his friend, Louise, and the likeness is extraordinary. He's now working on a painting of an elderly man which gives him the chance to paint some good wrinkles! He's keen to take on more portraits so let me know if you're interested. You can see more here.

John Harris – work in progress

John's been working on a large new triptych which will be revealed properly in time, but this is how it's looking so far.

At the same time, some of his early paintings seem to have become 'classics'. He was given a free hand to paint whatever sprung to mind for the series of covers commissioned by New American Library for their 'Best of Trek' series and, until now, we've only made one of them available as a print. Here are two of them, all four are now on the prints section.
There may be others which you think should be added to our list of paintings available as prints so do let me know. We could probably add them.
One of the Best

Naturally I see Jim Burns as one of the best science fiction artists of our time, but it was great to see that he was No. 1 on this list from The Collector.
And finally

The coronation of King Charles III and Queen Camilla is to take place on Saturday, the 6th of May on Free Comic Book Day

So if you're in London you can choose whether to watch the coronation or whether to join Gosh Comics where Alexis Deacon, creator of the Curse of the Chosen series of spectacular graphic novels, will be holding a workshop.

Your choice!
